gal: geen waardwisseling, uitsluitend telia. Telia meestal onderzijdig, ook op stengels en bladstelen, vaak samenvloeiend, zwartbruin, spoedig naakt. Sporen tweecellig, nauw3lijks ingesnoerd, kastanjebruin, 31-62 µm lang; wand van de topcel apical sterk verdik; op tot 50 µm lange, bruine, blijvende stelen.
gall: no host alternation, only telia. Telia mostly hypohpyllous, also on the stems and petioles, soon naked, blackish brown. Spores two-celled, hardly constricted, chestnut-coloured, wall of top cell apically strongly thicked; on up to 50 µm long, brown, persistent pedicels.
