gal: spermogonia beiderzijdig, kleine, tenslotte zwarte of bruine puntjes. Aecia lichtbruin, talrijk, verspreid over de hele onderzijde van het blad; ze zijn bekervormig met naar buiten gekrulde in enkele slippen verdeelde, rand. Aangetaste planten zijn verbleekt en groeien stijf rechtop, de bladeren zijn versmald.
gall: spermogonia amphigenous small, ultimately black or brown specks. Aecia light brown, numerous, dispersed over the entire underside of the leaf; they are cupulate, margin, split in a few slips, curled outwards. Infected plant are paled and grow stiffly upwards; the leaves are narrowed.

gal: uredinia en telia onderzijdig, bruin, respectievelijk zwart. Uredinia onrgelmatig verspreid, met geknopte paraphysen. Telia snel poederig. Teliosporen niet in bundels, tweecellig, makkelijk in tweeën uiteenvallend. Beide cellen zijn gelijk van vorm en kleur, en sterk wrattig; de kiempore van de bovenste cel is precies apicaal.
gall: uredinia and telia hypophyllous, brown and black, respectively. Uredinia irregularly distributed, with capitate paraphyses. Telio soon pulverulent. Teliospores not in bundles, two-celled, but easily falling apart. Both cells are equal in shape and colour, and both are strongly verrucose; the germination pore of the top cell is exactly in the apex.
