De mandibels alterneren (verschil met A. abiens!), waarbij het opmerkelijk is dat de rechter mandibel groter is dan de linker. Bij de onderfamilie Agromyzinae is het regel dat, als de mandibels al in grootte verschillen, de linker de grootste is (Griffiths, 1962a).

The mandibles alternate (difference with A. abiens!); remarkably, the right mandible is larger than the left one. Within the subfamily Agromyzinae it is the rule that, if the mandibles differ in size at all, the left one is the largest (Griffiths, 1962a).
