Zoals de foto's latren zien heeft de larve onder de mandibels een plek met fijne stekeltjes, wat de soort plaatst in de Agromyza ambigua-groep, waar onder meer A. ambigua, mobilis, nigrella, nigrociliata en rondensis toe behoren, en die door Griffiths (1963a) geplaatst wordt tegenover de nigripes-groep met o.m. A. albipennis, hendeli, nigripes en phragmitidis.
Venturi (1936a) geeft een prachtig geïllustreerde beschrijving van de larve, maar Spencer (1973b) zet vraagtekens bij de juistheid van de determinatie.
As the pictures show, the larva has behind the mandibles a finely spinulose field. This places the species in the Agromyza ambigua species group, which includes among others A. ambigua, mobilis, nigrella, nigrociliata and rondensis, and which is placed by Griffiths (1963a) opposite to the nigripes group, with A. albipennis, hendeli, nigripes and phragmitidis.
Venturi (1936a) presents a beautifully illustrated description of the larva, but Spencer (1973b) expresses doubt about the identification.
