De larve wordt beschreven door de Meijere (1934a). Van de drie papillen op het achterspiraculum is het achterste maar weinig groter dan de andere twee, en niet sterk haakvormig gekromd; dit onderscheidt morionella en A. lamii tesamen van A. labiatarum, de gewoonste Amauromyza op Lamiaceae.
The larva is described by de Meijere (1934a). Of the three papillae on the rear spiraculum the posterior one is not markedly elongated or hook-like. This separates morionella and A. lamii together from A. labiatarum, the most common Amauromyza on Lamiaceae.
