Een familie van maar enkele soorten (Danilevskii & Kuznetsov, 1990a; Parenti, 2000a). In NW Europa zijn het alleen soorten van het geslacht Prochoreutis die mineren, en dan nog wel alleen in de eerste larvestadia (Pelham-Clinton, 1985b). In Midden-Europa komt daar nog Millieria dolosalis bij.
Heppner (1987a) geeft een afbeelding van de larve van Choreutis pariana, als, niet-minerende, vertegenwoordiger van deze familie.
