mijn Sterk gespiraliseerd gangmijntje, bijna geheel gevuld met paarsbruine frass. Alleen het laatste stukje van de gang komt over 1 à 2 cm los van de spiraal, waarna de larve de mijn verlaat om vrij op het blad te gaan leven, waar ze venstervraat veroorzaken. De verlaten larvekamer, die uiteraard vrij is van frass, is opvallend slank. Het ei, in het centrum vande spiraal, ligt aan de bladonderzijde, evenals de uitgang van de gang (Emmet, 1985a).
mine A narrow corridor, densely wound, amost entirely filled with purplish brown frass. The last 1 to 2 cm of the corridor are free from te spiral, and almost straight. At this point the mine is left, and the larvae continue to live free on the leaf, causing window feeding. The emptly larval chamber, obviously free from frass, is conspicuousy slender. The egg, in the very centre of the spiral, is at the leaf lower side, as is the exit from the mine (Emmet, 1985a).

synoniemen B. fragulella. Goeze's oorspronkelijke spelling is van de soortsnaam is frangutella. Gegeven de naam van de waardplant, en het geringe verschil in sleets loodzetsel tussen een l en een t, is dit een duidelijk drukfout, en volgens de nomencltuurregels zou de geldige naam frangulella luiden. In de vlindertraditie is het echter in gebruikelijk om op dit punt de nomenclatuurregels te negeren, en ook in gevallen als deze de oorspronkelijke spelling te volgen.
synonyms B. fragulella. Goeze's original spelling of the specific name is frangutella. Given the name of the host plant, and the small difference between an l and a t in worm lead hand printing this obviously is a typing error and according to the rules of nomenclature frangulella should be the valid name. However, in Lepidoptera tradition it is customary to set side the rules of nomenclature at this point, and to rigidly adhere to the original spelling.
opmerkingen Op somige struiken van Rhamnus catharticus zijn de mijnen omhuld door een ongewoon grote zwarte vlek.
