mijn Larve solitair in een langgerekte bovenzijdige epidermale (daardoor zilverkleurige) mijn. De frass ligt aanvankelijk in een roestbruine middenlijn. Later, wanneer de mijn zich begint samen te trekken en het blad zich over de mijn vouwt is de frass zwart en ligt in een klomp in een hoek van de mijn. De larve verlaat daarna de mijn, en leeft in een naar beneden opgerold blad. In elke geval bij liguster heeft dit de vorm een kegelvormig peperhuisje met een spitse top, dat aan de brede basis is vastgesponnen op het blad.
mine Larva solitary in an elongate upper-surface epidermal (thence silvery) mine. Frass initially in a rust-coloured central line. Later, when the mine starts to contract and the leaf folds over the mine, the frass is black and concentrated in a corner of the mine. At this point the larva leaves the mine, and starts living freely in a downwards rolled leaflet. In each case in Privet this has the shape of a conical pepperbox with an acute tip, and with the broad base spun to the leaf.

fenologie Hoewel de literatuur vermeldt dat larven gezien worden tussen juli en september (Hering, 1957a; Emmet, Watkinson & Wilson, 1985a) vermelden de laatstgenoemden dat het imago overwintert, en vliegt tot in mei. Daarin past goed een waarneming door Jorgen Ravoet, die al larven vond op 6 mei 2009 (België, foto hierboven).
phenology Although the literature tells that larvae are found between July and September (Hering, 1957a; Emmet, Watkinson & Wilson, 1985a), last authors write that the adult hibernates, and flies until May. The agrees well with an observation by Jorgen Ravoet, who found larvae on May 6th (2009, Belgium; photo above).

pop Voor de verpopping maakt de larve een rond gaatje in het peperhuisje, dat later als uitgang moet dienen. De pop bevindt zich in een witte cocon een hangmatje dat in het huisje gespannen is tussen deze opening en een punt die in het huisje (foto's in Parenti & Varalda, 2000a). De pop wordt beschreven door Patočka & Zach (1995a), Patočka & Turčáni (2005a).
pupa Prior to pupation the larva bites a circular exit hole in the pepperbox. The pupa is situated in a white cocoon in a hammock that is set between this exit hole and a point deep in the pepperbox (pictures in Parenti & Varalda, 2000a). The pupa is described by Patočka & Zach (1995a), Patočka & Turčáni (2005a).
