zak De volgroeide larve in een tweekleppige samengestelde bladzak, opgebouwd uit drie bladstukjes van toenemende ouderdom en afnemende grootte; de zak meet ongeveer 10 mm, de mondhoek bedraagt ca 60°.

Verwarring is mogelijk met Coleophora vacciniella, die op dezelfde waardplant kan voorkomen. Een verschil is dan dat vacciniella bovenop het blad mineert, terwijl idaeella onder het blad leef. Verpoppen doet idaeella echter bovenop het blad (Itämies & Tabell, 1991a; Tabell in litt., 2009).

case The full-grown larva in a bivalved composite leaf case, composed of three leaf fragments of increasing age and decreasing size; the case measures c. 10 mm, the mouth angle is c. 60°.

Confusion is possible with Coleophora vacciniella, that can live on the same hostplant. An additional difference then is that vacciniella mines on top of the leaf, while idaeella makes blotch from the underside. However, the pupation of idaeella occurs on the upperside (Itämies & Tabell, 1991a; Tabell in litt., 2009).
