zak Okergele pistoolzak met scherpe, schuin naar achter-onder lopende richeltjes en een duidelijke ventral kiel. Het pallium bedekt ongeveer 3/4 van de zak en heeft aan de achterzijde een paar vleugelachtige uitsteeksels; het bestaat in feite uit twee delen. Het is sterk opgeblazen en heeft een geschulpte oppervlaktestructuur; de kleur is aanvankelijk geelwit, maar is uiteindelijk bruin of zelfs zwart. Mondhoek 45°.

De wat oudere larve maakt geen vlekmijnen meer, maar eet, aan boven- of onderkant, al het bladweefsel weg behalve de dikkere nerven.

case Ochreous pistol case with many sharp obliquely backwards-downward running ridges and a sharp ventral keel. The pallium covers about three quarter of the case and has a pair of winglike extensions in its rear; in fact, int consists of two parts. It is strongly inflated, and has a scalloped surface structure; the colour is yellowish white at first, but brown or even black later. Mouth angle 45°.

The somewaht older larva does no longer make fleck mines, but eats, form above or below, all leaf tissue except the stronger veins.

De synonieme C. gypsophilae zou leven op Gypsophila paniculata; mogelijk is hier sprake van xenofagie.

The synonymous C. gypsophilae is reported to live on Gypsophila paniculata; perhaps this was case of xenophagy?
