In Krone's beschrijving wordt Acer campestre als de waardplant genoemd, maar dat berust waarschijnlijk op een vergissing - de bladeren van de twee soorten lijken wel wat op elkaar. Nadien is fiumella ook niet meer van campestre gemeld.
In Krone's description Acer campestre is cited as the hostplant, but this probably is a mistake - the leaves of the two species are rather similar. In later publications fiumella is never associated with campestre.
